Inn to Inn Spring Herb Tour

Spring to life at our weekend of all things herbal! Visit each of 11 inns where you'll learn about different herbs and sample recipes using each inn's chosen herb. You might try chive biscuits or rosemary shortbreads or blackberry basil soup or lemon verbena punch. Each inn will give you lots of information about history, medicinal and culinary uses of each herb. Plus you'll go home with seeds or plants to start your own herb garden.

The Mount Washington Valley Inn-to-Inn Cookie Tour showcases some of the areas most engaging Inns. On both Saturday and Sunday between the hours of 11 AM and 4 PM, this self-guided tour will treat your senses . . . enjoy the fragrances of pine trees, greens and the confections of the season . . . savor the tastes of sugars and spice and yule-tide treats. . . collect a sampling of winter music, laughter, and the crunch of snow . . . feel the warmth of the fires, the bracing mountain air, handshake greetings melting into fond farewell hugs . . . but most of all be engulfed by the sights of Inns festooned for their guests’ enjoyment. Each sharing their own holiday magic, traditions, and spirit. The perfect inspiration to kick off the coming weeks of baking, gifting and celebrating with family and friends.

Each year Spring arrives with the promise of new things to come...again this year something traditional has a wonderful new twist...

Tap into the fun of the Eighth March Maple Madness, Inn-to-Inn Maple tour.

Here in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, we are blessed with one of Mother Nature's wonders...the beautiful sugar Maples. Throughout summer their broad shadows shelter hikers and picnickers from the sun, cooling our mountain air. Of course, the entire world rushes to see them decked out in their dazzling autumn colors. And during our winters they stand as sentries over our ski slopes and trails as we enjoy adventures in the snow. Quietly, in late February and into March, with some variability, Mother Nature gives them her first kiss of spring and the Maple sap begins to flow. Yankee wizards then work their magic for six weeks or so, between the still frigid nights and blustery days to gather that sweet liquid in... and thru their alchemy, one of New Hampshire's most abundant resources produces one of New England's most sought-after treats.

On Saturday, March 23, between the hours of 10:30 AM and 5PM, these historic inns will offer you the opportunity to experience a self-guided tour of the participating properties; sampling a wide spectrum of maple treats as you go...from the "Appealingly" sweet to "Zestfully" savory. A wild and woolly inn-to-inn event held together by maple syrup and wacky fun ... with prizes galore!

For those ticket holders who are a bit more daring, here is an opportunity to win prizes worth hundreds of dollars, fame throughout the land, and a chance for some great fun. Go ahead, take the "Hare Raising Quiz" or, better yet, find the pieces to the "Maddening Scavenger Hunt".

Along the trail there will be places, people, and things to visit, find, retrieve. And for extra points, bring your own digital, Polaroid, or video camera to document suggested photo ops.

The participant who accomplishes every dictate on the Maple Madness - March©, and scores the most points, will win a bundle of prizes including: A $200 certificate good toward a two-night stay at any participating Inn, a supply of maple syrup, and a basket of goodies from our participating Inns and Maple Country Partners©.

All completed Maple Madness - March forms which are entered will be reviewed by a panel of judges of dubious qualification. Their awarding of extra points will be based on originality, creativity, and whimsy. Their opinions may be meaningless, but will be final (like any governmental body!).

THE EVENT:Treats & Tricks go hand in hand as you go Inn-to-Inn: Bed & Breakfasts Inn the Mount Washington Valley (BBInnsMWV ) will host THE GHOST & GOBLIN TRAIL...one in a series of ‘not just another seasonal inn tours’. On Saturday, October 26, for one day only, between the hours of 11AM and 4PM, these historic inns will offer you a self-guided tour of the participating properties; sampling a grab bag of special treats (and maybe some tricks!). Each entrance, uniquely decorated to bid farewell to Autumn, welcomes revelers, costumed or not.

The Great Mystery Muddle of the White Mountains: The fiendish riddle and jumble contest is back for a return engagement. Each participating inn will deliver a clue, hidden within their tour booklet page. Interpreted correctly, the “de-jumbled” clues solve The Great Mystery Muddle of the White Mountains. Should more than one savvy sleuth unscramble the correct answer, the lucky winner will be chosen from among them by random drawing. The grand prize valued at over $400 includes a $200 certificate toward a two- night stay at any participating inn, a dinner certificate for The Notchland Inn, a horse or carriage ride for two at the Farm by the River & Stables, and a special treat bag full of fun prizes courtesy of the BBInnsMWV and their Country Partners (several local businesses that want to be part of the fun). As tour participants choose their favorite entrance decorations of the inns, the Innkeepers and Country Partners will be judging the costumes & Halloween make-ups of their guests.
