North Conway Home Schouler Park

Welcome to North Conway Village

Chartered in 1765 by Colonial Governor Benning Wentworth, North Conway, New Hampshire is named for Henry Seymour Conway, ambitious son of a prominent English family, who was elected to the House of Commons at age twenty, fought at Culloden, and became Secretary of State. Early settlers called the North Conway area Pequawket (known colloquially as Pigwacket), adopting the name of the Abenaki Indian village which stretched down the Saco River to its stockaded center at Fryeburg, Maine.

Now-a-days, the North Conway Village is a buzzing hub in the Mt. Washington Valley, with dozens of locally owned restaurants, unique stores and shops and lodging establishments, ready to welcome you! Schouler Park lies right in front of the historic, Victorian, Conway Scenic Railroad, which acts as a landmark for any North Conway Village activity.

Fall foliage brings on one of North Conway's most festive charity events, Mud Football. Enjoy the parade as football leaugues from around New England come and dress up and have fun on their home-made float, right before they jump into a pool of mud behind the North Conway Community Center and North Conway Country Club to battle it out for the Mud Football Championship.

The American Cancer Society's, Making Strides Against Cancer Walk will make its way through the village as participants fight against Cancer and enjoy Pink Week. Local businesses have banded together to help sponsor this event as they offer unique pink products and special discounts and deals.

In the winter, the old world skating rink with wooden boards goes up, providing a free family activity for the young and the young at heart. Enjoy the holiday events such as the, Tree Lighting, Festive Not Frantic extravaganza and New Year’s Eve Fireworks with a cup of hot cocoa in hand, from one of the surrounding coffee shops, as you find your place in our beloved park.

Enjoy Thomas the Train as he departs from the Conway Scenic Railroad in the summer from North Conway, and be sure to be a regular at Arts Jubilee Summer Concert series at Cranmore Mountain Resort. 4th of July is a great night in North Conway with fireworks and entertainment. Craft fairs line the street for you to peruse and for all of you bikers out there, enjoy Rally in the Valley during Bike Week.

North Conway Village has some great entertainment for the whole family. Take the little ones to enjoy the MWV Children's Museum or the Mount Washington Observatory Weather Discovery Center. Both are free of charge and will keep your children entertained for hours. Cranmore Mountain Resort also offers a great adventure and Aerial Park, complete with segway tours and rides that is a great compliment to Story Land.
