General Information:The MWV YP is a social and business networking venue for young professionals in the valley. We provide professional development opportunities, mentorship for community involvement and support for civic leadership. We encourage and empower the next generation to contribute to our communities. We are affiliated with the Mt. Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Mt. Washington Valley Economic Council.PROGRAM OF WORK: Leadership....Community Connections furthers the organizational mission of the MWVYP to act as a network for developing professionals, providing opportunities for professional development, mentorship for community involvement, and support for civic leadership. Leadership MWV aims to facilitate knowledge transfer and create the opportunity for hands-on learning with an emphasis on:
1. Generating new participation on local boards; 2. Providing one-to-one mentorship by existing community leaders to up-and-coming professionals and citizens; 3. Empowering those with leadership capabilities to act effectively to help solve local problems. MWV LEADERSHIP WELCOMES THE 2010 CLASS *Leadership Application Form - applications for the 2010 class are closed. Please consider applying for the 2011 class. Stay, Work Play Initiative Stay Work Play NH Mission Statement: "To work collaboratively across New Hampshire to support ongoing economic, workforce, and community development by promoting the state as a favorable place for young workers and recent college graduates to stay, work and play, when considering employment and lifestyle opportunities." - approved, April 9, 2009 Background: The 55% Initiative was announced in January 2007 by the University System of New Hampshire Chancellor Stephen Reno as an effort to develop creative ways to promote New Hampshire to future college graduates, encouraging more to "stay, work, and play" here. The initiative focused on researching why graduating students stay or leave the state, on giving the issue greater visibility among employers, young professionals' organizations, the media, and the general public, and building support for a marketing effort that could help shift perceptions about New Hampshire that may be outdated or inaccurate to help encourage 55% or more new graduates to remain in state. http//www.stayworkplay.org is designed as a destination site for the 20-30 year old market, this website will include robust content around the three major themes, links to employment tools and opportunities, and social marketing tools and services. We want to include as much original content in this site as possible. As a result, we are soliciting content suggestions through our Facebook group called "Stay Work Play NH". We are encouraging people to post on this group page brief testimonials about why they chose to settle in NH and what they like best about the state, photos of them in one of their favorite NH places or doing one of their favorite activities in the state, and links to videos posted on You Tube that showcase something special about NH. Please consider joining the group, posting content, and sharing this with others. Governor's Task Force for the Recruitment and Retention of a Young Workforce for the State of NH COMMUNITY SERVICE - the YP's charitable contribution of time for 2007, 2008 and 2009 was donated to Angels and Elves.
