Art in Bloom - Saturday June 25, 10 am - 5 pm - Jackson Village

The Mountain Garden Club is presenting Art in Bloom: A Walking Tour of Jackson Village on Saturday June 25 from 10 am - 5 pm. Garden club members will craft and display 48 one of a kind floral arrangements created to complement works of art on display and for sale by local artisans. The artwork and arrangements may be viewed at the Canterbury Hill Gallery, Jackson Historical Society, Jackson Public Library, Ravenwood Curio Shoppe, Snowflake Inn & Wentworth Hotel.


A reception, featuring complimentary refreshments provided by 12 local restaurants, will take place from 3 - 5 pm at the Snowflake Inn. The exhibition and reception are free and all are welcome to attend. Raffle tickets may be purchased at the Snowflake Inn and the winners will be drawn at 4:30 pm. You do not have to be present to win.


Acknowledgement and gratitude go out to the following businesses that helped to make this event possible. Badger Realty generously provided the programs for the event. Fast Taxi will supply a shuttle service to the six venues. Other Jackson businesses donating their services include Dutch Bloemen Winkel, Jackson Chamber of Commerce, Jackson Creations and Jackson Signsmith.


The event will be held rain or shine.

Scholarship Application Now On-Line The Alice T. Madden Memorial Scholarship provides funds for post-secondary students residing in Mount Washington Valley who are pursuing studies in plant science disciplines such as Horticulture, Agriculture, Forestry, Environmental Science, Land Management and other related fields of study. The application and complete information on the criteria is now available to be downloaded on the Mountain Garden Club’s web site http://www.mountaingardenclub.org/MGCScholarship.pdf  The application may also be obtained from the guidance office at Kennett High School, Fryeburg Academy and at The Community School in S. Tamworth. The deadline for submitting the application package is April 30, 2009.

Meetings for the Mountain Garden Club are held the 3rd Monday of each month from September thru May. Most programs are presented free of charge and the public is always invited to attend. The Mountain Garden Club is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. The Mountain Garden Club was established in 1973 and is a member of the New Hampshire Federation of Garden Clubs – District 1, and of the National Garden Clubs, Inc. – New England Region. The Mountain Garden Club is dedicated to the promotion of all phases of: horticulture; floral design; civic beautification; community service; conservation; youth projects and scholarships within the communities which comprise the region of Mount Washington Valley. The Alice T. Madden Memorial Scholarship provides funds for post-secondary students residing in Mount Washington Valley who are pursuing studies in plant science disciplines such as Horticulture, Agriculture, Forestry, Environmental Science, Land Management and other related fields of study. Members take an active part in beautification projects throughout the area during the warm weather months which include the planting and maintaining of gardens in Schouler and the Connie Davis Watson Parks in North Conway, the Library in Freedom, the Gazebo and Town Hall in Jackson, Will’s Children’s Park and the Veteran’s Memorial in Bartlett, the traffic islands along Route 16 in Conway and the annual planting of a “Memory Tree,” at local schools. The club also supports Habitat for Humanity, Tin Mountain Conservation Center, Jen’s Friends (dedicated to providing supplemental financial resources to the at-risk cancer patients in the greater Mt. Washington Valley area), Angels and Elves, North Conway Community Center and the Mount Washington Observatory. Membership is open to all residents in the townships, which collectively make up the region known as Mount Washington Valley. Most meetings are held at the Salyards Center for the Arts (next to the Conway Historical Society and just before Kennett High School).
