General Information:
The Blue Loon Transit system is a Division of Tri County Community Action Program. It is a multi faceted community transit system for the general public. The service is made up of a dial a ride service door to door service and a flex route system (a fixed route that deviates ¼ of a mile on both sides). The service is subsidized with federal and state funding and matching funds for those dollars are raised through towns, the county, support from other grants, businesses, hospitals, sponsorships, and private donors. The two services are meant to work together bringing people from the rural service areas to the flex route system where they can transfer from the dial a ride bus to the flex route system to reach points farthest north, south, and west. Both services are meant to provide safe, reliable, and affordable transportation so individuals can get to medical appointments, work, and utilize the services for various other reasons. On the dial a ride system medical appointments are a priority. Donations are accepted from the elderly 60 and older (if they choose to donate), fares are charged for the general public, the Blue Loon contracts services directly with the Department of Health and Human Service for clients needing rides to medical appointments and work. The Blue Loon services are part of a One Call One Click service under Tri-County CAP’s Transportation Division and all calls are received at their office in Berlin via a toll free number 1-866-752-6890
