General Information:"A Jewel in the Maine Woods", less than an hour drive from the Mt. Washington Valley. In 1936, a marvelous opera house was built on the site of an old deer run in the forest above Harrison, Maine. Constructed in the Adirondack Style with hand carved fixtures and near perfect acoustics, the 300-seat theatre was considered as fine as any on Broadway. Now listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, the theatre is operated as a non profit performing arts center presenting an eclectic schedule of over fifty productions during a season that runs from late June until early September. As home to the Deertrees Theatre Festival, the Lake Region Community Theatre, the Sebago-Long Lake Music Festival, the Deertrees Children’s Wednesday Series, the BackStage Gallery and the Salt Lick Café, Deertrees is one of the most active performing arts venues in the Northeast. Complete information on current and future shows is listed on the Deertrees Web Site.
