The Metropolitan Opera Live in HD Presents: Les TroyensJanuary 5 12:00 PM to 5:30 PM The Met offers a rare opportunity to witness Berlioz’s vast epic, last performed at the Met in 2003. Deborah Voigt, Susan Graham, Marcello Giordani, and Dwayne Croft lead the starry cast, portraying characters from the Trojan War. Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi marshals the large-scale musical forces. Fryeburg Academy Film Series: Sunrise with accompaniment by Brent ArnoldJanuary 18 Fryeburg Academy Film Series: Sunrise with accompaniment by Brent Arnold 7:30 PM at the Eastman Peforming Arts Center Arnold is a cellist and composer with a wildly unorthodox approach to his instrument, using live looping and processing, guitar-like fingerpicking and techniques from Arabic and African music to create his intricate and moving songs. His newest project is an original score for Sunrise, the legendary 1927 silent film by F.W.Murnau. He performs the entire score live, using only the cello and his battery of electronic tools to give an imaginative and haunting new perspective on the little-known cinematic classic.
