Covered Bridge Dance

August 4

Dance the night away under the stars and theJacksonCovered Bridgeon Saturday

August 4th, 2012... The White Mountain Boys are back by popular demand...  You’ll want to dance the night away starting at 7 PM.  They’ll be plenty of food to satisfy your dining needs prepared by a local chef of choice.  Bring your chairs, blankets, friends, family and, of course, dancing shoes as the Jackson Village Community comes together for this Old Fashioned good time block party.

If you haven't been able to attend this event in the past now is your chance... the 2012 Covered Bridge Dance is gearing up to be one of the best community events this year.  It isn't often you see any of New Hampshire Covered Bridges closed to vehicles... but on this very special night the Jackson Covered Bridge will be closed from 5:30 PM until midnight for this great event.  You know an event is worth the trip when it stops traffic!  Of course... signs will be posted indicating that you can enter the Jackson Village loop by continuing north on Route 16 to the northern entrance less than 1/2 mile from the bridge and our finest Jackson Police crew will be on hand to redirect traffic as needed.  Please note... ALLJacksonVillagebusinesses normally opened at night will most certainly remain opened for business during this event.  Be sure and mark your calendars to join us for a night of Dancing under the Stars and the JacksonCovered Bridge.

The Jackson Fire Department will be holding a 50/50 raffle, selling T shirts and offering some other fun things to help raise money for their 2012 expenses.

Parking for this event will be marked. The entrance fee to the Covered Bridge Dance is FREE because of our Major Sponsors the Inn atJackson, Whitney'sInnat Jackson, Flossie's General Store, Homer's Appliance & R & R Woodworkers in Celebration of Lorraine andMurrayKosstrin  !

Remember to bring your dancing shoes and come hungry!

Theater Night & Gala at the North Conway Library

August 12

Theater Night is a fantastic summer opportunity for locals and visitors to mix and mingle with friends and neighbors, to sample terrific food, listen to beautiful music, see a wonderful play, and maybe purchase some items in a silent auction, all to support your local library.

The evening kicks off with a cocktail party at 6:00 p.m. at the Eastern Slope Inn.  A magnificent buffet of hors d'oeuvres and desserts will be prepared by the best local chefs.  While enjoying these gourmet delights, people can bid on numerous silent auction treasures. You will also enjoy a breathtaking quartet, The Mountain Aire Strings, who will once again provide live entertainment.

At 7:30 p.m. the Eastern Slope Playhouse will present a performance of “25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” a fun and entertaining, Tony Award-winning musical!

This musical comedy centers on a fictional spelling bee set in Putnam Valley Middle School. Six quirky adolescents compete in the Bee, run by three equally-quirky grown-ups. They learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser.

It is a hilarious tale of the unlikeliest of heroes: a quirky yet charming cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time.

The ticket price of $50 includes the cocktail reception with champagne punch, a delicious array of appetizers and desserts from the finest local inns and restaurants, musical entertainment by The Mountain Aire Strings, and a show stopper performance of Putnam County Spelling Bee.

You also have the opportunity to join us for just the cocktail party, the spectacular food buffet, silent auction and The Mountain Aire Strings performance. This option for $25 is particularly appealing for theater season ticket holders who still want to sample the terrific foods available in the Valley and support your local library.

That night, the Library will also raffle off its big summer raffle prize, the “V.I.P. Winter Summit Trip for 2 up Mount Washington” This exciting grand raffle prize, courtesy of the Mount Washington Observatory, has a value of $440!

The second prize is a photo by local master photographer Kathy Bergeron, printed on canvas; as a third prize, the local favorite coffee shop Frontside Grind has donated a $25 gift certificate to our raffle.

Tickets for the raffle are $2 each, or 3 for $5, or 7 for $10.

Tickets for Theater Night and for the raffle are on sale now at the North Conway Library on Main Street in North Conway Village.

Please join us for this delicious and entertaining event which is a major fundraiser for the library. Contact the Library at 603-356-2961 or check www.NorthConwayLibrary.com for more information and to reserve your tickets.

White Mountain Art & Artisan Festival

August 18, 19

Jackson, New Hampshireinvites you to experience the world of Art through the work of over 40 Artists and Artisans at the Annual White Mountain Art & Artisan Festival...

This two-day juried event Saturday August 18th & Sunday August 19th will be held in Jackson Village Park. Many selected artists and artisans will be displaying and selling their work under the large tent by the pond inJacksonVillagePark or under their own individual tents set up throughout the park.

Our White Mountain Art & Artisan Festival is one of the Northeast's premier events for artists and artisans, this year's juried exposition features works by more than 40 artists presenting sculpture, glass and wood arts, ceramics, fiber arts, fine arts and jewelry for sale at all price points.

There will be live musical performances throughout the weekend, including a local favorite “Calico Slim”.  There will be food and refreshments, including lobster sandwiches as well as BBQ foods.

Join in on the arts and crafts activities for children, including sand sculpting, beading, and t-shirt decorating.

Remember it was through the eyes of the artists of the White Mountain School of Art that the world first became aware of the beauty ofJackson. Many of the artists of the 19th centuryWhite MountainSchool came toJackson to view the lovely scenes we live with every day from pastoral farms to the grandeur ofMt.Washington. In 1923, Wallace Nutting, author of "New Hampshire Beautiful" put it well when he said "People of Jackson can claim as their advantage to be in the immediate view of the best of theWhite Mountains.Jackson undoubtedly stands high among the more desirable mountain towns as a goal of visitation."  This holds true today. Works of art from local and visiting artists who convey their vision of this spectacular area on canvas continue to be popular purchases.

This event can be enjoyed by singles, couples and the entire family... with something special for each.

Food and refreshments, including lobster sandwiches as well as BBQ foods will be available for purchase from Yesterday's Restaurant... always a local favorite.

We invite the kids to the popular "Kids Creating" tent where they can learn to create their own pieces of art by way of crafts, sand art, sculpting, beading and t-shirt decorating.  Donations welcome.

Many years ago the White Mountain School of Art first became aware of the beauty ofJackson. Many of the artists of the 19th centuryWhite MountainSchool came toJackson to view the lovely scenes we live with every day... from pastoral farms to the grandeur ofMt.Washington. Works of art from local and visiting artists who convey their vision of this spectacular area on canvas continue to be popular purchases at this spectacular show.  Our White Mountain Art & Artisan Festival is popular for singles, couples and the entire family... providing something special for each.
