Christmas In June

Join the local businesses of Jackson, Bartlett, Glen & Intervale as they open their doors to share their northern hospitality and holiday fun with you in June.  Come experience holiday fun in warmer weather.  Instead of skating, skiing and snowshoeing you can hike, bike, kayak or take a swim.  If you weren't able to come and share the magic of the holidays with us in December now is your chance to see what it was like...    a Holiday Cookie Tasting at the Inn at Ellis River or a Holiday Beverage Tasting at the Inn at Thorn Hill (events will be priced accordingly).  Many local businesses will be hosting lots of fun and exciting things to do.  The “Christmas In June” celebration continues for three weekends in a row starting June 1st through the 17th.    Saturday June 1st kicks off this community holiday in June celebration with Open House Invitations, Gift Give aways, and more. 

We are very excited to report to you that on each Saturday June 1st, 8th & the 15th "Summer Vacationing Santa" has agreed to stop by.  Although Santa will be on vacation in the Jackson Area of New Hampshire he has agreed to take his time away from vacationing to meet with his favorite people... the children.  Be sure you mark your calendar to come say hello to Santa.  Parents and children can gather at the Jackson Village Gazebo at 4:30 PM on June 1st, 8th and 15th where everyone can watch Santa arrive in style in an Austrian horse drawn sleigh.  Santa will gift each child with a special holiday cookie that Santa had his Elves prepare for them before he left for vacation.  Santa will want to hear all about your summer vacation plans. 

By popular demand the Jingle Bell Chocolate Tour will be running Saturdays June 1st, 8th and 15th hourly 11 AM - 4 PM.  Tickets are $25 per person, children 3 or under not taking chocolates and sitting on mom or dad's lap can ride free.  You will board your summer sleigh at the Gazebo in Nestlneook Estate where you will receive your Jingle Bell, festive bag and first chocolate goodie.  Then you will enjoy a sleigh ride through Jackson Village stopping at the Inn at Jackson, The White Mountain Puzzle Store, the Wentworth, an Elegant Country Inn, J-Town Deli & Country Store, the Snowflake Inn and Flossie's General Store... receiving chocolate treasures at each and every stop.

Be sur to call and book your sleigh ride early as they will sell out fast.  You can book your sleigh ride by calling the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce at 603-383-9356 using any majore credit card.  Tickets are refundable provided you cancel outside of 5 business days of your ride, if you cancel inside 5 business days of your ride the tickets are non-refundable.

Danny and the Deep Blue Sea

Danny and The Deep Blue Sea revolves around the dilapidated lives of Danny and Roberta, two tortured strangers, who meet by chance in one of the many nameless sods in the Bronx. Danny is a broad, beastly man without direction or purpose; he is drowning in a sea of violence and rage. Roberta is a wilted barfly, desiccated shell of a woman; she is drowning in an ocean of pain and guilt.

Wildcat Kids Free Fishing Day


June 1

This year's "Kids Free Fishing Day" event scheduled for Saturday, June 1 will be a great way to learn how to fish or develop your fishing skills. Representatives and volunteers from the U.S. Forest Service and Appalachian Mountain Club will provide a day's wealth of experience and knowledge to help the beginning angler get started.

Participants, who register on the morning of the event, will receive a “passport” outlining 5 stations that must be completed before they can begin fishing. Educational and instructional skill stations will include: Knot Tying; Fish ID; Casting; Ecology; Macro Invertebrates; and Fishing. Each station activity will take 15-20 minutes to complete and once an activity has been completed, the passport will be stamped and the aspiring angler will be one step closer to casting a line in the stocked fishing pond.

The free event will take place from 10am - 3pm rain or shine (*registration cut-off is 12pm) and all ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and all persons should bring proper footwear and clothing as well as personal sun protection (hat, sunglasses, spf) and bug repellent. The fishing pond at Wildcat Mountain is accessible via the “C lot” entrance located approximately a quarter mile past the main entrance on the north-bound side of Rt. 16 heading toward Gorham, New Hampshire.

Salomon Spring Trail Running/Walking Series

At Great Glen Trails we hold a weekly trail running series for all abilities and ages. Every Thursday for eight weeks racers can run/walk the long, short or mini courses between 3:30 and 7:00 p.m. Placement awards in each category. Competitors who complete 6 out of 8 weeks are eligible for the prize raffle at the end of series awards party.

Bicknell's Thrush Tours

Bicknell’s Thrush is an extremely rare species with very limited breeding grounds. It is the rarest and most secretive of the breeding thrushes in North America and it is the only bird whose breeding is restricted to the Northeastern part of the continent.

Our Bicknell’s Thrush Guided Van Tours leave early in the morning before the Mt. Washington Auto Road opens to the general public to cause as little disturbance as possible.

Cost: $50 per person
Advanced reservations required.

Tours depart from the base of the Mt. Washington Auto Road at 6:00am. (Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to departure). Tours last approximately 2 hours.

Attitash Daily Operations Begin

Attitash's summer schedule hits full swing when we open up for daily operations starting on June 15. All attractions are open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with classic staples such as the Alpine Slide, Waterslides, Mountain Biking and Scenic Chair Rides. In addition to the Mountain Coaster, Climbing Wall and EuroBungy Trampoline we've added Slacklines and the Airbag Jump! The excitement continues at the original summer fun spot. The Fields of Attitash will also open up with Horseback and Pony Rides that run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Daily operations will run from June 15 until September 2.

NE Delta Dental Mt. Washington Road Race

A footrace to the summit of Mt. Washington! Runners from around the globe come to the Mt. Washington Auto Road to take on the fabled climb. Auto Road closed to the public until 1:00pm.


Entry to the Northeast Delta Dental Mount Washington Road Race is via lottery.  The lottery selection has been made and the race is now full for 2013.

Children’s Summer Theater Series

The Believe in Books Literacy Foundation will begin its fourth season of the Children’s Summer Theater Series presented by the Papermill Theater Company with “Jack in the Beanstalk” on Friday, June 28 at 10 am. The eight week series continues each Friday at 10 AM through August 16th. Tickets are $6, children 3 & under are FREE and a season pass is $4O. Tickets can be purchased by calling 356-9980 or visiting www.theaterinthewood.org. Tickets are also available at the door. Performances are held at the Theater in the Wood in Intervale, NH.

Each performance is approximately 30 minutes long and features five professional adult actors from the North Country Center for the Arts (NCCA) Children’s Theatre Company in original musical adaptations of popular fairy and folk tales. The shows appeal to adults and children ages three and up. After each show, the actors (in costume) meet and greet audience members.

Jackson Village Fireworks

Jackson Village & the surrounding communities come together to celebrate Independence Day... join us as we light up the sky with a spectacular fireworks display Friday June 28, 2013 at approximately 9 PM. 
The Fireworks will be going off from the greens of the Wentworth Golf Course making easy viewing throughout Jackson Village but we do recommend that you come early to get a good spot.  There will be ice cream, popcorn, glow necklaces, balloons and other fun stuff available from the Jackson Fire Department.

Sunrise Drives


June 30

The Mt. Washington Auto Road will open early on three Sundays in 2013, on June 30 at 3:30 AM, July 28 at 4:00 AM and August 25 at 4:30 AM allowing guests to drive themselves to the summit of Mt. Washington to view the sunrise from the highest peak in the Northeast.
