It's Not About the Hike

November 5

It's Not About the Hike is a presentation that will bring you into your heart, lift your spirits, and inspire you to climb that next mountain in your life. This hour-long program highlights the journey of Nancy Sporborg and Pat Piper, two ordinary women who went on an extraordinary journey over the mountain summits and into their hearts. The presentation is NOT about the hike; it is an inspirational and motivational program about pushing ourselves outside of our comfort zones, overcoming our fears, finding our passions and living our lives to the fullest. This talk is a multi-media presentation: · Movies · Music · Photographs. It is both humorous and touching, as the speakers share about their personal lives in a way that makes the message and learning universal. The book, It’s Not About the Hike, will be offered for sale after the presentation.
This event is sponsored by Debbie Phaneuf of ReMax Presidential and is FREE!

6:30 pm at the Theater in the Wood in Intervale

Donations will be accepted to benefit the Christopher Barrett Scholarship Fund. A teaching scholarship established in Memory of Debbie’s son, Christopher, in honor of his passion to teach and for higher education.

In this charming tale, we hope to educate the students about the class system of Victorian England and encourage them to help others that are less fortunate than they are.

Japanese Ikebana Floral Arranging Demonstration

November 12

Antoinette Adrouart, a member of Ikebana International, Sogetsu Boston Branch, Ikebana instructor and owner of Ikebana Flower in Nashua, will be giving a demonstration on the art of Japanese Ikebana Sogetsu School flower arranging.  Ikebana is an ancient form of floral arranging deeply rooted in Japanese tradition, in which all sorts of materials are used in addition to fresh plants and flowers, like withered branches, roots, driftwood, iron, stone and cloth.  So this is the perfect time of year to find out about this relatively simple creative activity that encompasses both tradition and contemporary aspects from expert arranger Antoinette.  For more information go to www.ikebanaflower.com.  This demonstration is free and open to the public through the sponsorship of the Mountain Garden Club, Tin Mountain Conservation Center and the Marriott Residence Inn, North Conway.
